Civics, Media, and Democracy Collection

The Civics, Media, and Democracy Collection is designed to support teaching and learning about government, citizenship, civic engagement, social justice, and the influence of media on our lives and our nation’s politics. This collection features multimodal, multicultural, interactive eBooks for teachers and students in K-12 schools as well as colleges and universities.

Each eBook includes hundreds of pages of content, public domain and Creative Commons media, and student-centered, technology-rich learning activities that facilitate higher-order critical thinking and learning.

These eBooks were produced, and are continually updated, by faculty and students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst as well as classroom teachers in schools throughout Massachusetts. Faculty directors for these projects are Torrey Trust and Robert W. Maloy from the College of Education and Allison Butler from the Department of Communications at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
